Well, um, what can I say? I severely stuffed my weight “loss” (and my face) this past week on Halloween goodies …and it’s not even the “real” Halloween here in Australia anyway …just the commercially driven superficial candyfest that happens on 31st October without any consideration (or knowledge in most cases) of the cross-cultural and seasonal origins of this celebration/festival/holiday(holyday)/sabbat. See Halloween, Samhain & Beltane in Australia on my main blog if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
My youngest son wanted to have a Halloween party on the Sunday so we went all out and decorated the rumpus room with fake spiderwebs, bats, skeletons, grim reapers etc (click on the photos below to enlarge them) and stocked up on lots of lollies, chocolates, potato chips, corn chips and popcorn to have at the party (as well as some healthy food of course) with extra for the trick-or-treaters I was expecting would come door-knocking as usual on the Monday night – the official date of Halloween.
- To welcome the guests
- Skeleton running from Reaper
- Bats overhead!
- Spiders & other creepy things
- Eye balls & body parts
- Lunch!
The kids all had a fantastic time at the party which was a great success as they spent most of their time in the pool …like I said before, wrong time of year for Halloween here. I ate a few too many things I shouldn’t have …naturally, and as usual I’d over-catered.
Monday night came and went, with only ONE small group of kids turning up to our door, so that meant we had HEAPS of stuff left over. I can’t stand seeing good food go to waste so of course somebody had to eat it …and that turned out to be mainly me …just can’t help myself when there’s lollies, chocolates, chips and popcorn in the house (which is why I don’t usually buy things like that).
Oh well, the feeding frenzy is over and now it’s time to get serious about weight loss again. :::sigh:::
